About Little Tolmennor Barn – Introduction

Little Tolmennor Barn is in a quiet rural area. Our self catering accomodation in West Cornwall is a double storey barn with an internal stairway comprising of 11 risers with a handrail. Access to the front door is by stone paving and 2 granite steps.

History

The barn is part of the smallholding thought to be around 250 years old, originally thatched and probably built as a stable and hay store.

It nestles at the bottom of Tregonning Hill, the first place where china clay was quarried in Cornwall and listed as a Special Area of Conservation. Not far away is the estate of Godolphin now a famous National Trust house and about two miles walk.

The whole area is steeped in history from the Stoneage Fort (still identifiable) on the top of Tregronning Hill to the murals of Breage Church only 20 minutes walk across the public footpaths to the village.
